i am sharing the most easiest way how to make chicken tahari easy recipe, but super delicious when you take your first bite of your chicken tahari.
this chicken tahari recipe is perfectly enough for 2 to 3 person.
cooking time for chicken tahari 30 to 35 minutes.
What is tahari biryani?
if you want pulao and biryani taste together, then tahari is all you need.
tahari is prepare with chicken or mutton or beef meat with some spices and rice together to make a biryani like pulao,
which we call tahari.
How to make chicken tahari easy:
first let’s see what ingredients we need for cooking our chicken tahari recipe, then i shared simple to follow cooking instructions with pictures, then lastly i gave some pro cooking tips also.
Ingredients in Chicken Tahari Recipe:
- 550 grams of chicken
- 2 cups rice
- 3 and half cup water
- half oil
- 1.5 table spoon red chilli powder
- 1 small tea spoon turmeric powder
- 1 table spoon salt
- 2 table spoon coriander powder
- cumin seeds, bay leaf, green cardamom, black pepper corns, cinnamon stick
- 1 table spoon chat masala powder
- half tea spoon kasuri methi,
- handful of coriander leaves
- 1 table spoon chicken masala powder
- 2 finely chopped
- 2 finely chopped tomatoes
- 3 slit cut green chillies
first gather all these above ingredients for your chicken tahari recipe.
then start cooking, this way, you can’t forget adding any ingredients in your chicken tahari recipe.
Simple cooking instructions for a delicious Chicken Tahari Recipe with Pictures:
Step 1:-
In a pressure cooker, add and heat half cup of oil for 2 minutes on medium flame.
Step 2:-
Next add all these below whole dry spices in a oil:
- 1 Tea Spoon Cumin Seeds
- 3 Green Cardamom Pods
- 10 Black Pepper
- 1 Cinnamon Stick (2 Inch)
- 2 Bay Leaves
On low flame, shallow fry these whole spices for 1 minutes.
Step 3:-
Now add 2 finely chopped onion slices in this hot oil and on high flame, cook onions until turn to golden brown colour.
Step 4:-
Now add 550 Grams of Skinless with Bones Chicken Pieces in this cooker.
On high flame, stir in the cooker and cook chicken pieces until turn to white.
It will take only 2 to 3 minutes.
Step 5:-
Now add 2 table spoon of freshly grated ginger and garlic paste in this chicken,
Mix and cook on medium flame for 2 minutes to remove the raw smell of ginger garlic paste.
Step 6:-
Now add all the below spices in this chicken:
- 1 small tea spoon of Turmeric Powder
- 5 table spoon of Red Chilli Powder
- 1 table spoon of Chat Masala Powder
- Half tea spoon of Kasuri Methi Powder
- 2 Table spoon of Coriander Powder
- Add 1 table spoon of salt
Add all these spices in the chicken and mix.
Now with spices, now only add half cup warm water in this and mix and continue cooking for 4 to 5 minutes on medium to low flame.
Step 7:-
Now add half cup perfectly whisked curd in this chicken and mix continuously.
After adding curd, cook this on medium to low flame for more 4 to 5 minutes.
Step 8:-
Now add 3 slit cut green chillies,
2 finely chopped tomatoes and
1 table spoon of Chicken Masala Powder
Add these three ingredients in this chicken and mix and continue cooking on medium flame.
Step 9:-
Now add 3 and half cup of warm water in this chicken and
Then add that perfectly soaked in water for 30 minutes ( 2 cup Rice).
For 2 cups rice quantity = 3 and half cups of water.
Note:- Rice is soaked in water for 30 minutes, so for 2 cups rice = 3 and half cup water.
If you have basmati or thin rice, then take the same quantity of rice and water as I took in this chicken tahari recipe.
Or
If you are taking thick rice like rashan rice, then take 2 cups not soaked rice for 4 cups water.
Step 10:-
Now mix water, chicken pieces and rice perfectly and
Now Cover the Pressure Cooker with its lid and
Cook this for 1 whistle comes from pressure cooker and turn off the gas, after 1 whistle.
Note: – after 1 whistle, let the pressure cooker steam comes outside itself.
Don’t open immediately, after 1 whistle of pressure cooker,
Turn Off the gas Flame and just leave your pressure cooker for 10 minutes.
Step 11:-
Now garnish your chicken tahari with some fresh finely chopped coriander leaves and serve it and enjoy.

Pro tips for cooking Delicious Chicken or Mutton Tahari Recipe:
Tip number 1;-
instead of only ginger and garlic paste in your chicken tahari,
you can make a paste of gresh ginger garlic, green chillies and some coriander leaves.
blend them in a grinder and use this paste in your chicken, believe me, your chicken tahari taste more good.
Tip Number 2:-
take full fat curd for extra tenderness and taste for your chicken tahari recipe.
Tip Number 3:-
take aged Indiagate Basmari Rice for Best Chicken Tahari recipe. and don’t forget to soak it in water for 30 minutes before washing rice perfectly with water 3 to 4 times.
Tip Number 4:-
for better taste in your chicken bites, you can marinade your chicken pieces with some ingredients like red chilli powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, ginger garlic poste, coriander powder, cumin powder, fresh finely chopped mint and coriander leaves,
mix all these ingredients in your chicken pieces and marinade it for at least 2 hours.
then use this marinade chicken in your chicken tahari recipe, believe me, you will get the best tahari recipe.
but when doing this, make sure, you add ingredients in your chicken marination the half quantity, then next add another half quantity of ingredients while cooking,

Tip Number 5:-
when you use water in this chicken tahari recipe, make sure you are taking warm water.
because cold water can break your rice and chicken pieces, and also it will take extra time to cook also.
