This is totally experimental Indian snack which is very easy to prepare in your home and enjoy this aloo chana chaat recipe like you purchased this chat from restaurant or from any street stall.
So follow the exact method as I shared in this blog post, because yesterday I served this aloo chana chaat recipe to my family,
And they are like, woooooow, wooooow, woooow, so beautiful, so elegant, just looking like a woooow,
I am not joking here guys, my family actually said this to me. Now your family also tell you the same dialogue to you.
So just cook your aloo chana chaat exactly as I shared in this recipe.
But first gather all the below ingredients first, then start preparing your aloo chana chaat recipe.
Aloo Chana Chaat Recipe Ingredients:
Ingredients quantities are good enough for 3 to 5 people.
- So first take 500 Grams (half KG) of White Chickpea (white chana)
- Next take 2 good size of onion and chop them finely thin slices
- Next take 2 good size of tomatoes and chop them finely into small pieces
- Then take 1 cucumber and chop it also in small pieces
- Next take 5 green chillies and cut them to very small pieces
- Next take 1 whole lemon
- Then take 1 table spoon of salt
- Next take ½ (half) tea spoon of Red Chilli powder
- Then take ½ (half) tea spoon of Coriander Powder
- Next take ½ (half) tea spoon of Cumin Powder
- Then take 1 table spoon of Dry Mango Powder (Amchur Powder)
- Next take finely chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
- Next take 100 grams of Paneer
- And lastly take 2 perfectly boiled potatoes and cut it to cubes shapes
So gather all these above 14 ingredients for our best restaurant style aloo chana chaat recipe.

Simple Instructions for Preparing Best Aloo Chana Chaat Recipe in Stepwise with Picture:
Step 1:-
First take those 500 grams of white chickpea (white chana) and wash it perfectly 2 to 3 times to remove the dust from the white chana.
Next if you have time, then after washing, now soak white chickpea (white chana) for 7 to 8 hour or overnight in fresh clean water.
Or
If you don’t have time, then after washing white chickpea (white chana), add enough very hot water in the white chickpea (white chana) bowl and leave it for 1 hour.
Add very hot water in the wash white chickpea (white chana) bowl and cover the lid and leave it for 1 hour.
In 1 hour only, your white chickpea (white chana) will absorb water in them and becomes soft.
Add water quantity, as showed in the picture.
Step 2:-
Now after 1 hour of white chickpea (white chana) resting in hot water, now add the same water and white chickpea (white chana) in the Cooker
Cover the cooker with lid and now cook it for 15 to 20 minutes.
But first whistle of cooker should be on high flame and then turn the gas flame to medium and cook white chickpea (white chana) in cooker for 15 to 20 minutes.
Until this is cooking in cooker for 15 to 20 minutes, now we will prepare our imli ki chutney and green chutney.
Step 3:-
Simple Imli Ki Chutney Recipe in English:
Imli ki chutney is sweet and sour chutney which is the best combination of any snacks like, Samosa, Pakora’s, Momos, Chana Chaat, Mirchi Bhajji and more.
This imli ki chutney made with Tamarind and Jaggery combination, which makes this best chutney for any snack,
So let’s prepare imli ki chutney recipe, but first gather the below given ingredients first,
Imli ki Chutney Recipe Ingredients:
- Here first take 100 Grams of Tamarind (paki hui Imli)
- 100 grams of Jaggery (gud)
- 7 Dates (Khajoor)
- Next take ½ (half) tea spoon of Ginger Powder
- ½ (half) tea spoon of Roasted Cumin Powder
- ½ (half) tea spoon of Kashmiri red chilli powder for good colour
- ½ (half) tea spoon of Black Pepper Powder
- ½ (half) tea spoon of Black Salt
- Next take 1 table spoon of Oil and 2 table spoon of Butter for sure.
Don’t skip any above ingredient, use all the above ingredients in your Imli ki chutney recipe and prepare it, then taste and tell me in the comment section, is this your imli ki chutney is better than restaurant style chutney or not.
Ok so, now let’s prepare imli ki chutney with our simple instructions with Picture:
Instructions for Cooking Imli ki Chutney with picture:
- First add 100 grams of Tamarind and Jaggery in the bowl and add very hot water in the bowl and leave it for 10 minutes:
- Next take 7 Dates (Khajoor) in a cup, remove the seeds and in this also add very hot water in the dates cup and leave it for 10 minutes.
- Now after 10 minutes of rest time of tamarind and jaggery, mash it with your hands or spoon, extract all the pulp from the tamarind and drain it in the pan like this
- Now in the pan, add this 10 minutes kept in rest Dates, add this in the pan and turn on the gas flame.
- And now add half tea spoon of salt, ½ (half) tea spoon of red chilli powder, ½ (half) tea spoon of black pepper powder, ½ (half) tea spoon of black salt, ½ (half) tea spoon of fennel seeds powder, ½ (half) tea spoon of roasted cumin powder in the pan, and mix all this in the pan perfectly and cook it for more 10 minutes on medium flame.
In 10 minutes of cooking in medium flame, your imli ki chutney will become thick like this.
Now turn of the gas flame, because now your imli ki chutney is ready
in just 10 minutes. Now transfer this chutney in a bowl. And keep it aside, because we will use it later.
Yess guys, you can store this imli ki chutney for 2 months easily in a airtight glass jar and enjoy. You can use this imli ki chutney in any chat and with any snack.
Step 4:-
Green Chutney Recipe: mint Curd Chutney: Dahi Pudine ki Chutney:
Now let’s prepare this green chutney in 2 minutes. So
- Take a mixer grinder and in that add 100 grams of Coriander Leaves, 30 Grams of Mint leaves, half inch pieces of Ginger, 4 Green Chillies’, half tea spoon of salt, ¼ tea spoon of sugar, half tea spoon of black salt, 1 table spoon of cumin seeds, 1 tea spoon of Amchur Powder and lastly add 100 grams of Thick Curd in the mixer Grinder and
- Add all the above ingredients in a mixer and grinder and make a smooth paste of it perfectly like this.
Look at the colour of this chutney man, look so delicious, right? Yesss, and you can store this green chutney for 2 days in the fridge and can enjoy.
So I have shared 2 chutneys recipes with you, imli ki chutney and green chutney which is made with curd and mint and coriander leaves.
We will use these 2 chutneys in our Aloo Chana Chaat Recipe. These chutneys will make our chat better than restaurant style chana chaat.
Step 5:-
Now let’s come to the cooker, in which we have kept our white chickpea (white chana) in cooker for 15 to 20 minutes on medium flame and cooked.
Now open the cooker lid and now you can see, our white chickpea (white chana) is cooked perfectly.
Now remove white chickpea (white chana) from the cooker and from the water. We will not take water, take only white chickpea (white chana).
Step 6:-
Now take a bowl and in that add all the below ingredients in half tea spoon quantity:
- Salt,
- Red chilli powder
- Kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
- Coriander powder
- Cumin powder
- Amchur Powder
add all these 6 ingredients in half tea spoon of quantity only In a cup and add enough water in the spices cup and mix it and make it like this:
I am doing this, because when will cook our spices, then spices should not burn. Or else, burnt spices will give us bitter taste in our aloo chana chaat recipe.
So do exactly, like I did.
Step 7:-
Now take a pan and in that add 1 table spoon of oil and 2 table spoon of butter in the pan
And now add spices which is mixed in water, add this in the pan and cook this for 2 to 3 minutes on medium flame.
In this much of time, our spices will get cook perfectly in the pan in the oil and spices will release oil in the pan.
Step 8:-
Now in this pan, add those perfectly cooked in cooker for 15 to 20 minutes on medium flame.
Yess, now add white chickpea (white chana) in the spices pan and mix it perfectly with spices.
Step 9:-
Now add those perfectly boiled and cut in cubes shapes potato pieces in the pan and mix it perfectly and cook it for more 2 to 3 minutes on low flame.
Step 10:-
Now turn of the gas flame and transfer this white chickpea (white chana) mixed with spices and potato cubes,
Transfer this to a separate bowl and now add 100 grams of cubes shapes cut paneer in this bowl:
Step 11:-
Now add those perfectly chopped 2 onion pieces, 2 finely chopped tomato pieces, and 1 perfectly chopped cucumber pieces in this bowl.
Step 12:-
Now take that Imli ki Chutney and add 6 to 8 table spoon of imli ki chutney in this bowl and with this also, add that kept aside green chutney.
Yess, add this green chutney 2 table spoon in this bowl. And with this also, squeeze 1 whole lemon and add handful of finely chopped coriander leaves in this bowl and mix all these ingredients perfectly.
Now you can taste this chat and if needed, any adjustment, then you can add green chilli pieces, if you want more spicy chat.

Tip number 1:-
I have used white chickpea in this aloo paneer chana chaat recipe, you can take black chana also in this chat recipe.
Tip number 2:-
When you soak chana (chickpea) in water, soak chickpea in very hot water, because doing this saves your lot of time,
If you soak chana in normal water, then chickpea takes 8 to 10 hours to become soft,
But
If you soak chickpea in very hot water, then it will take only 1 hour for chicken to become soft.
And this will save your time also in cooking.
Tips number 3:-
If you are taking 1 cup of chickpea, then take 3 cups of water quantity for soaking and cooking chicken pea in a cooker.
1 cup chickpea = 3 cups water
500 grams of chickpea = 1.5 litre water
If you take less water, then, when you cook chickpea in cooker, then water absorbs fast and your chickpea can get burn.
Tip number 4:-
I made this aloo paneer chana chat recipe for good enough for 3 to 5 people, so I have taken ingredients quantity according to that,
And I made dry and little less spicy aloo paneer chana chaat recipe.
But
If you are a spicy lover, then take spices quantities according to your spice tolerance.
But
I suggest, snacks are good in less spice quantity only. And this is healthy chana chat recipe.
If you make it spicy, then it won’t be healthy for some people.
Tip number 5:-
For garnishing, I have use fresh finely chopped coriander leaves only, but if you wish,
Then you can add papdi or samosa, or any mixture also with coriander leaves as a garnishing.
It will give you little more crunchy chana chaat recipe.
Tip number 6:-
I have added direct paneer cubes in this chana chaat recipe without frying it or roasting it.
But if you want experiment with your style, dry adding fried paneer cubes in this aloo paneer chana chaat recipe.
But adding this paneer cubes if best and delicious.
Tip number 7:-
Do you know, chopping onions, tomatoes, cucumber, potato in same size, will give you the balanced taste, when you take a bite.
Yess this is also matters, see, if you cut potatoes in big cube sizes and when you eat it with a bite of chana chat,
Then you will get less spicy taste, same with onion, big size of onion cut piece will you little more spicy taste on onion.
So yess cutting vegetables in equal size also matters, when you take a bite.
Tip number 8:-
For sweeter taste you can add pomegranate seeds in your chana chaat recipe, like as a garnishing.
You can also add carrot also in this chat recipe for more veggies taste.
